Terms
The terms on which this journal is published: information only, no advice, no warranty.
Information, not advice
What Justice Partners Journal publishes is general reference material on United States law. None of it is legal advice, and none of it stands in place of advice. No attorney-client relationship is formed by reading an article, by quoting one, by writing to the editorial address, or by acting on anything found on these pages. This is a publication: it holds no clients, takes no instructions and acts for nobody.
Accuracy
An article may be wrong. It may also have been right and since been overtaken by an amendment, a new rule, a policy change or a decision. Articles are built from primary sources and corrected when an error comes to light, but nothing here is warranted to be complete, to reflect the law as it now stands, or to fit a particular set of facts. Before acting on anything read here, open the sources printed at the foot of the article and read them at the source, or consult a lawyer licensed in the relevant jurisdiction.
Deadlines deserve their own warning. An appeal window, a protest period, a notice requirement or a filing cutoff stated in an article should be read as a prompt to confirm that period in the governing text, and never as a representation of how much time anybody actually has left.
Using the text
Articles may be read, printed and linked freely. A passage may be quoted with attribution to Justice Partners Journal and a link to the page it came from. A whole article may not be republished, translated, resold, or presented as another party's work. The written text on this site belongs to the site.
Photographs
Photographs are not this site's to give away. Each belongs to its photographer and appears here under one of three licenses only: a Creative Commons Attribution license, a public domain mark, or a dedication of the work to the public domain. The photographer, source and license for every image are recorded at image credits, and anyone reusing an image is governed by that license rather than by anything on this page. Cropping and color grading do not transfer any right in the underlying photograph.
Advertising
Articles in the immigration field carry one paid link to an immigration law firm, marked as an outbound link, and it is the only paid placement on the site. It should be read as advertising. Its presence does not affect what those articles say, and this journal makes no representation about that firm, its services, its availability or its results. The disclosure also appears on editorial standards and privacy.
Links out
Every article links to statutes, regulations, agency material, court sites and Cornell's Legal Information Institute so that its citations can be checked. Those sites are outside this journal's control. No responsibility is taken for what they contain, whether they are accurate, whether they stay reachable, or how they treat a visitor. A link points at a source; it endorses nothing.
Availability and liability
Everything here is offered exactly as it stands, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. No promise is made of uninterrupted availability, and material may be added, revised or withdrawn at any time. To the fullest extent the law allows, liability for any loss is excluded, whether the loss follows from using the site, from being unable to use it, or from relying on something published on it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the United States. No particular state, forum or court is named, and nothing in this section removes a right a reader holds under the law of the place they live that cannot be given up by agreement.
Reaching the journal
